Kate's Quote of the Day - 2/26/11 (yes, out of order)

Kate was taking forever to eat her lunch, as so often is the case, and she could see that I was getting irritated. She looked at me and said, "I'm pushing my luck mommy!" I can't stay mad when she says funny stuff like that.

Decorating Gary

Years ago, Amber and Athena started the tradition of naming out Christmas tree. This year Kate named him Gary. Gary was a great tree, and Kate loved decorating him.

After tree decorating, Kate and I made this cheesecake to take to the Hayes Family Christmas party. Thanks for a great party Ami!

Pink and Sparkly

Kate had mentioned to Mimi and Papa that she really wanted a pink Christmas tree for her room. In true Grandma fashion, Mimi could not resist. Besides, she needed a place to put her sparkly nutcrackers right? Kate loved having her very own tree. Thanks Mimi and Papa!

Kate was showing off some of her sunglass collection.

Kate's 1st Nutcracker with Mimi

Mimi and I took Kate to the Nutcracker for the first time. This was a very special event because it was a tradition from my childhood. Kate was so excited and had been talking about going for weeks.
Kate did great. She loved watching all the dancers. We saw Kate's ballet teacher during intermission, which was very exciting for Kate. Towards the end Kate got a little restless. She whispered, "Mommy, am I a ballerina?" When I told her yes, she couldn't understand why she couldn't get up on stage. She kept saying, "I want to go up there!"

Mousey got to come too!

After the show, Mimi gave Kate her very own sparkly nutcracker ornaments. Kate loved them.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was great this year. Mimi and Papa were here, and Aunt Judy, Uncle Curtis, and Cousins Luke, Mark and Heather came.
This is me "massaging" Tom (the Turkey) bright and early. I took quite good care of the little guy. He got a nice rub in the morning and I basted him throughout the day. After all the love and care, he was still "dry as a fart" (in the words of Claire Goodwin). Oh well, I didn't eat the stupid thing anyway.

Here is Mimi and Aunt Judy prepping for our yummy dinner.
Kate loved spending time with cousin Heather.

October 31st, 2010 Halloween

By the time Halloween rolled around, we were kind of Halloweened out. We opted to go trick or treating early, stayed for about an hour and called it good. Kate enjoyed trick or treating, but was a little shy. She wanted Mark or I to hold her hand the whole time. I guess seeing so many people in costumes was a little overwhelming to her.

I love this picture!
The Evergreen firefighters were passing out candy, and they all loved Kate's costume. They wanted Kate to sit in the truck, which she did, but she wasn't happy about it. Finally got her to sit on the bumper for a picture.

Boo at the Zoo

I took the girls to Boo at the Zoo with the Hayes family and the Carrington family. Kate was a Dalmatian, Amber a gangster, and Athena was a pirate. I ended up wearing Ami's knight costume. We had fun checking out the animals and trick or treating.

Arrrrr...

Tatum, Hayden and Kate
Too cool
Kate and Tatum had fun chasing eachother around in the grass.

October 28, 2010 - School Party

Kate and Hayden had their school Halloween party today. Kate dressed up as Cinderelly and Hayden was Woody. They thought it was so cool to get to wear costumes to school.

Kate was still in character that evening...
